"Where is your tongue?"

MEET EMILY RECHT
CERTIFIED SPEECH + LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Emily Recht is a Los Angeles–based Speech-Language Pathologist, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, and Feeding Therapist with over 17 years of experience helping clients improve communication, oral function, and overall airway health.
Guided by her motto, “Where is your tongue?" Emily is dedicated to uncovering the root cause behind speech, feeding, and breathing challenges, rather than just treating the symptoms. "And remember...lips closed, tongue up, breathe through your nose."

With 28 years as a swim instructor and coach, Emily now brings the benefits of orofacial myofunctional therapy into the pool, blending her expertise with the therapeutic properties of water to create a unique, effective, and enjoyable treatment approach. She is CPR certified and has also spent the past 15 years inspiring others as a cycling instructor.

When she’s not working with clients, Emily loves being outdoors—cycling, hiking, and enjoying time with animals. Most importantly, she’s the proud mom of two teenagers who keep her motivated and grounded.

SPEECH THERAPY
Emily specializes in treating a wide range of speech and language challenges, including articulation delays, speech sound disorders, stuttering, apraxia of speech, and more.
FEEDING THERAPY
Emily works with individuals who experience challenges such as difficulty chewing, swallowing (dysphagia), food refusal, gagging, or limited acceptance of food textures and types.

COMBINING THERAPY + WATER
Emily incorporates pool therapy as a dynamic and engaging extension of her speech and language sessions, using the water’s natural resistance and calming properties to support regulation, focus, and communication. In the pool, children often feel more relaxed and motivated, creating the perfect environment to target breath control, oral-motor coordination, following directions, and social interaction. By blending movement with language goals, Emily helps children build speech and communication skills in a fun, multi-sensory setting that supports both body and brain development.

“My child’s session with Emily Recht was truly life-changing. She created such a warm, supportive environment that made my child feel comfortable and excited to learn, and we saw progress almost immediately. Emily’s expertise and kindness gave us so much hope and confidence moving forward.”
